Miss Hathai Eamrungroj
SAT Score: 1330 (Math 770, Verbal 560)
The atmosphere of a class at Kaplan was like nowhere else. Unlike other prepschools I have been to, when I was at Kaplan, I didn’t drift off thinking that I wish I were at home in bed or out there shopping eventhough it is 6.30 p.m. on a Friday afternoon! From my experience of having enrolled in a test preparation course at Kaplan twice, I found that the atmosphere in a Kaplan classroom was always relaxed and pleasant. Everyone called teachers by their first names. You can joke with them and expect that they will joke you back. That is what I found unique about Kaplan. Kaplan has done an excellent job of getting the students to concentrate in class at their own will.
Moreover, course at Kaplan were excellent. It provided me with all the facilities that I need to improve my score. Practice tests told me exactly which area I was strong at and which area I was weak at. I found the detailed recommendation of the exact pages that I should study which I got at the end of the test very helpful. Also, at Kaplan, I learned one of the best SAT I test taking skill which is how to make an educated guess and how to work around a problem when I wasn’t confident about the right answer; a vary useful skill that one will find hard to acquire by studying by herself. (I found it especially useful for the verbal part of the SAT I test as English is, of course, not my first language.)
However, I can guarantee you that if you didn’t put your bit in, you will not get much out of a Kaplan course. Some of the test taking skills that you are taught at Kaplan are unique and need to be practiced in order to be got hold of. Please be faithful to the work set by your teacher and the recommendation that you get the end of each practice test.
